C-USA Weekly launches August 29th with new site, show, and hosts

C-USA Weekly, the once BlazerTV.COM production, will be spun-off into its own outlet announced BlazerTV.COM founder and C-USA Weekly host Mitchell Miller this week. 

According to Miller, C-USA Weekly resignated so well with fans of Conference USA, that this was the natural next step for the show. “C-USA Weekly started out as a way to branch out our coverage on BlazerTV to be more accessible to fans of other schools in Conference USA.  However, we quickly decided that the plan would be to branch C-USA Weekly into its own media outlet,” said Miller. C-USA Men's Basketball Coaches Report Card

Since we have wrapped up another college basketball season, I have decided to take a closer look at the coaching jobs of each C-USA school. I have decided to write this article in the form of a report card (I do have an education degree, which qualifies me to do so). But first, I must explain my grading system. Will C-USA’s New Television Deal be a Success?

Two years ago former UCF men’s basketball coach Kirk Speraw was absolutely livid before his team played it’s first round C-USA Tournament game against Southern Miss. He was mad because his team’s game was not available anywhere on television, but that wasn’t all-CBS College Sports was showing C-USA games. They were showing replays of regular season games instead of the live First Round tournament games. How backwards is that? Speraw would probably be happy with the new television contract that C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky has put together, but the real question is the new contract really better than the previous deal? Will the Coaching Carousel Ever End?

Just when I thought it was safe to say that all twelve C-USA Men’s Basketball teams would retain their head basketball coaches next year, Ed DeChellis had to mess everything up. The Penn State coach left the Nittany Lions this week for the same position at NAVY! Apparently, Coach DeChellis thinks David Robinson still has some eligibility left for the Midshipmen. The unlikely turn of events has again sent shock waves through Conference USA as, according to multiple sources, Jeff Lebo is now being considered for the Penn State job.

C-USA should be used to this. While ESPN wants you to believe that the league has not improved, it clearly has – several C-USA head coaches have been considered for other jobs. Continue reading “Will the Coaching Carousel Ever End?” »
